Being among the Top 30 Indian Hottest Startups

Being recognized as one among the Top 30 Indian Hottest Startups is a reaffirmation of the value offered by our product TestersDesk.com. Thanks to all the thousands of Software Testers who voted for ValueMinds/TestersDesk.com at www.hotteststartups.in.

I was in Mumbai yesterday at Taj Mahal Hotel, in the very same building that was destroyed in the recent terrorist attacks, and was rebuilt as a magic within days (as if nothing ever happened there).

TATA, National Entrepreneurs Network, Ernst and Young, Helion, and several other premier entities have organized a wonderful event constituting Hottest Roundups to discuss various startup-centric topics, and the final awards presentation.

There was a decent print media coverage like this one from mint as well as TV coverage from CNBC. The platform enabled good networking too...

Many people liked the fact that we are an Online Test Design and Test Data Generation Toolbox, and were able to see where in the Software Test Life Cycle can TestersDesk.com offer help.

Certain key folks had one common question- Why are you offering this as a FREE service?

Here are some of the points that we responded with:

  1. The FREE Online Community Edition is a way how we reach out to, and be part of, the Testing fraternity around the world.
  2. We are focused on growth and not on profit at this time.
  3. In future we plan to release a Premium Edition that eats our own dog food from the free version and solve certain context-specific problems, for a reasonable fee.
  4. It gifts us a great degree of satisfaction, empowerment, and hope seeing thousands of users leveraging our free community edition to accelerate the solutions for Test design and Test data problems.
One more question many had was what type of applications does TestersDesk.com cater to, and what types of testing can it accelerate? (on the first take, it hinted me to redesign our homepage with the answer to this question- anyway,) TestersDesk.com provides "abstract" tools that can be used in the "functionality" testing of any type of Software application. May be testers on a web application can quickly relate to, but so can be someone doing the test design for input combinations on a mobile application!

As good as it gets, TestersDesk.com!

Common test data generators of TestersDesk

I thought I would let you know about one really interesting tool we have in here.

A handy tool all the testers would love to have; the common test data generators tool of TestersDesk.

Have a look at the image below.

There are six test data generators which can generate unicode characters, random numbers, syntax based strings, quantified strings, duplicate strings and various alphanumeric, numeric, special character, upper and lower case strings of specified a number.

I am sure testers would find these tiny but powerful tools to be quite useful in their day to day testing.

Register yourself for free, use the tools and let us know how it goes.

about the current precursor build

It is exciting for us to see the ramp-up of the daily number of logins while it is a good experience for the users logging in. The build currently deployed is what we are naming as a precursor to the first release that will be made in March. The test design tools and test data tools that are already available today will continue to be part of the free Online Community Edition for the testing world. At the moment, we are receiving feedback from several users on the precursor build and are poised to see the final fixes completed in the next couple of weeks. Please do write to us if you have any (you can write the feedback from the homepage of www.TestersDesk.com or by mailing me at ap@testersdesk.com).

As good as it gets!

What you can expect in the next couple of months

As I mentioned in my earlier post, you will find our of products to be quite unique and impressive. Apart from existing test design, test data generation and some miscellaneous tools, a whole bunch of new tools are on the way. The most interesting of these would be the Field Test Case Generator and a tool (yet to be named) to generate test data in xls and csv formats which can be used directly in tools such as QTP.

A field test case generator can generate test cases documentation automatically for you. A few clicks on our tool and you have all those test case documents ready for you with the actual test data you can input. Isn’t this something you would love to have?

The next is a tool you can use to generate test data in formats which can be directly integrated with tools like QTP.
If you can use a tool to automate your tests, why not use a tool to automatically generate the required test data? Data driven testing made easy!

I would love to hear from you. Keep commenting and keep writing to me at

Our vision, our objective in short

"A mechanic that would perfect his work must first sharpen his tools" - Confucius

"Our age of anxiety is, in great part, the result of trying to do today's jobs with yesterday's tools" - Marshall McLuhan

Technology has advanced itself in to our lives in every possible way. We have a whole new range of software applications we never dreamt before. Life’s changing and so should be the tools we work with. Unlike in development, usage of technology is not exploited that well in testing.

That’s where TestersDesk fits in, using technology to solve some of the most irksome problems in the field of software testing a
nd it is set to be the pioneer and leader in this. This is what we at TestersDesk believe in and that is what drives us to work daily.

So, start leveraging on the exciting new world of test engineering tools here at TestersDesk.

Introducing myself

Hello everybody, let me introduce myself as Prashanti Bharathwaj. I have recently joined as the product consultant of this amazing product called TestersDesk. I was a tester of a product based SOA company for a few years, and I know the pains.

Tools in the testing field are not as advanced in number and quality compared to their counterparts in development. My fellow testers and me have experienced repetitive and uninteresting work several times. Manual preparation of test data, test case documentation and maintenance used to drain up all our energies and interest.

And when I heard about the line of products in TestersDesk, I thought “I missed it so dearly in my testing days”. A range of products being available online under one roof is such a relief! You don’t have to go searching everywhere. I am also quite impressed with the range of products starting from test design to test data preparation to various other miscellaneous tools. Now that is what you call test engineering.

Now all you testers out there, have a look at the tools and stay tuned for more.I bet you will enjoy!

Watch out this space for more on TestersDesk products. Do write to me at for any comments/ideas that you may have.
